Private Kilimanjaro Helps to Raise Funds for Tŷ Hafan Children’s Hospice

Staffs, United Kingdom (17th October, 2012) – Private Kilimanjaro, a leading, expert provider of private and group climbs up Mount Kilimanjaro, is pleased to announce that the Climb Kilimanjaro 2012 expedition team, headed up by Neil Luke Davies, has successfully climbed Kilimanjaro in aid of Tŷ Hafan Children’s Hospice.

Starting on 1st October and finishing 14th October 2012, eight team members, including Mr Davies, scaled Kilimanjaro: the tallest freestanding mountain in the world, rising 15,100 feet (4,600 meters) from base to summit.

Tŷ Hafan offers comfort, care and support for life-limited children and young people, and is dedicated to improving the quality of life for the whole family. This comfort and support extends out of the hospice and reaches right into the heart of the family home, and is completely free of charge to the families in Wales who need it.

Tŷ Hafan was established in 1999 and since then has helped over 400 families, who live the dreadful reality that their children with life-limiting conditions may not reach the age of 19.

Jane Deakin, Managing Director of Private Kilimanjaro, commented: “In a fantastic feat, the entire team reached the summit and have so far raised over £10,000 of their £50,000 goal, which is really great news.

“Plus, as the expedition is self-funded by the team, all money received from sponsors will go directly to Tŷ Hafan to help the children.

“We are delighted to have played a part in making a vital contribution to this well-deserving charity, and look forward to undergoing similar projects in the future.”
