Summer sun is perfect chance to upgrade exteriors

Bootle, UK (July 2013) – Work on windows and doors is often best carried out during the dry, sunny summer months, when it is less of an issue to have an opening into your home from outside.

With half of UK homes currently in need of repair1, the summer months are the perfect opportunity to get some work done on jobs you may have been putting off for some time.

According to figures from Ocean Finance, 27% of UK householders say their exterior windows need some attention – either repairing or repainting, to bring them right up to scratch.

In 15% of homes, there are also doors that will not close properly or lock, potentially creating a significant security hazard where those doors are on the exterior of the property.

Meanwhile, summer sees a spike in insurance claims for theft2, with 27% of burglaries occurring when a thief enters through a door or window that has been left open.

Securing your home does not have to mean turning it into an oven during a summer heat wave; fitting new bi fold doors is one way to tackle all of the issues mentioned above.

Do this in the summer, and there’s less cause for concern about having a gaping hole in your exterior wall while the doors are being fitted – if nothing else, it should help to keep the interior of your home a little cooler.

New doors should fit into their frames perfectly and, importantly for patio doors, will lock securely and reliably, unlike older doors whose locks may have become unreliable.

All of this combines to give you a visually appealing replacement for tired and tatty old doors, free from damage and easy to maintain for the future, with modern-day levels of security built in, and which you can throw open on future sunny days to cool off your interior.
