Trade Skills 4U Renewable Centre Celebrates Its First Birthday

1 year ago Trade Skills 4U were busy planning their renewable energy training centre launch. Although established in January 2011 the centre was officially launched with a big bang on the 17 June 2011 by Simon Weston OBE and Henry Smith MP. The event catapulted the brand new state of the art centre to the forefront of the renewable energy training industry .

The centre was established to meet the growing demand for renewable energy installers. As the UK’s premier electrical training company Trade Skills 4U were in a unique position to upskill many of the existing qualified electricians and domestic installers to help meet this demand. Over the past year they have done just that and have delivered hundreds of solar PV qualifications to existing electricians and recently qualified domestic installers. The centre is still developing and will shortly be adding heat pump courses to its existing suite of technologies which currently include Solar PV, Solar Thermal, Water harvesting, Unvented Hot Water and even an electric car charging point.

1 year on the centre is still one of the only places in the UK that you can get your solar PV and solar thermal training at height on a full scale first story training roof.

MD Carl Bennett said; “We are very proud of what we have established here at our renewable energy training centre. We believe it sets a benchmark by which other training facilities can be measured. We have been overwhelmed over the last year with the response both in terms of numbers through our doors and customer feedback on the quality of the training and the centre itself.”

Also launched on the day was Trade Skills 4U forgotten hero’s bursary scheme. Since this date 4 different forgotten heroes have received free training and numerous others have received discounts. In fact the first successful candidate Ian Lockie went on to find employment in the solar PV industry within days of completing his course.

“We are happy to have helped some really deserving guys get a head start in a new career. We have learned a lot over the last year about how to manage and deliver our bursary scheme. One key thing we realised was that the people that needed the bursary the most could hardly even afford to travel to our centre. As such we have since teamed up with the British Legion and Civvy Street who have providing funding for our bursary applicants to travel to and from their courses.”

Trade Skills 4U are continuing to offer their Bursary Scheme throughout the coming year. For a small family run business they are giving a lot back to the community. So if you know anyone who is looking to retrain be that as a ex-military bursary candidate or simply as an electrician make sure you check out www.tradeskills4u.co.uk .

One year on there is no big celebration as the team are busy providing training to a whole range of people from electricians to plumbers and even roofers. The centre’s success has meant that there isn’t time to stop training for another event. The Queens Jubilee has provided a small window in which the team got together for some nibbles and drink to celebrate their success.
