TRENITALIA: Services onboard

Train travellers in Italy will enjoy the country’s high-speed Trenitalia service known as the Frecciarossa (Red Arrow).

With a million passengers a month, Trenitalia Frecciarossa trains connect Turin to Salerno, northern to Southern Italy. The Frecciarossa travels at speeds of 300km/h between Italy’s main cities, including Rome, Naples, Milan and Florence.

On board Trenitalia’s Frecciarossa passengers will find comfortable ergonomic reclining seats, a large personal table, newspapers, air-conditioning, chocolates, and a buffet car serving light snacks and drinks.

First class passengers also benefit from a welcome drink as they begin their journey and, as long as it is pre-booked, a three course set menu served at seat.

Although there are only two classes available on the trains, the Trenitalia Frecciarossa offers four different levels of service for passengers to choose from.

There is the new Executive service, which is primarily targeted at business travellers. The Executive service offers a seat in a carriage with seven single leather armchairs, with up to 1.5 m of legroom. Meals are served in seat. This service also offers travellers the opportunity to book a meeting space in a carriage with a conference table.

Business service offers the same comfortable seating, but with a Silent Zone so passengers can relax and work in peace.

Premium class is ideal for travellers who want to relax and enjoy the train journey. This service offers seats with privacy screens and passengers are served in-seat snacks.

Standard class passengers will not be disappointed – the Trenitalia Frecciarossa trains have been refurbished with new lighting to create a more relaxed ambience. There is also a trolley service serving hot and cold drinks and snacks.

All passengers on Trenitalia’s Frecciarossa trains can surf the internet using a USB stick or other portable device with a wifi antennae. Travellers simply log on to the network “WiFi Frecciarossa” and buy codes (for just 1 cent). Once logged on they can surf the internet for 24 hours.

Apart from the high speed “Red Arrow” Trenitalia also has a network of “Silver Arrow” – the Frecciargento trains. These trains are dedicated to passengers travelling between Rome and Venice – the two cities are connected by 26 trains a day, while the service also has six daily connections between Rome and Verona.
The “White Arrow”,Trenitalia Frecciabianca, connects Milan to Venice, Udine and Trieste; Genova and Rome; Bari and Lecce. This Trenitalia service is not on the high speed line, and instead, takes passengers on a romantic journey through the Italian countryside giving them time to enjoy every moment of the train ride.

For those travelling overnight Trenitalia’s night trains offer fully air-conditioned cars with a choice of couchette (for four or six people). Most routes offer a restaurant car to relax in too.

All travellers exploring Italy should note that to make the most of their trip Trenitalia tickets can be booked up to three months before the departure date.
