Chesterfield, United Kingdom (15th July, 2013) – Timberline, leading providers of outdoor play equipment for schools across the UK, has donated a chicken coop to Hi5 Day Care to house their new pet chickens.
Leeds-based Hi5 Day Care has recently hatched 3 chickens: Sam, NinkyNonk and Chuckles. The chickens were in their incubator for 21 days and the children took their responsibilities seriously by turning the eggs three times a day. Many nurseries and schools have started to rear chickens, as they can play a key part in working with children on their own personal emotional and social development. The children are playing an active part in learning to care for their new friends and understand how Sam and his friends are developing.
Timberline became aware of Sam the Chicken’s need for a new coop from an employee whose child attends the nursery, and offered to donate and install their newly-designed chicken coop, free of charge.
Timberline will follow the chickens’ growth and development in their new home with updates in their newsletter and on their social media profiles. The children of Hi5 Day Care will also present their own highlights of caring for Sam and friends.
“We’re really delighted to be able to help the nursery and provide a great home for Sam and his friends,” said Natasha Blackburn, Marketing Communications Manager at Timberline. “Everyone in the office is eagerly awaiting the updates on their progress! It’s a really great idea that the nursery has introduced some new friends for the children to care for and learn about.”
