Basingstoke, United Kingdom (09th October, 2012) – Chic Teak, a leading supplier of outdoor garden furniture, have recently delivered a collection of Cheverell benches for the ornamental garden of The Grove, a 5 star hotel in St. Albans, Hertfordshire.
The landscape gardens were originally designed by Chelsea Gold Medallist and judge Michael Balston.
An integral element of the formal design was the strategic placement of five Cheverell benches.
These striking teak benches are part of a designer collection that was also designed by Michael Balston, who commissioned Chic Teak to manufacture them on his behalf utilising their Indonesian supplier and talented craftsmen.
The ornate high-backed Cheverell benches, with their gently sloping top, decorative finials, ornate legs and softly curved seats, were originally designed as seven-seaters. However, for this particular Hotel installation, the design was modified to Michael Balston’s specific requirements as a modular three-seater.
Chic Teak Managing Partner Robert Bowden commented: “The Michael Balston range of benches always cause quite a stir when on public display, as they are very different from the standard teak bench. We were therefore delighted to be able to supply a bespoke version for this prestigious hotel.
“It is always more challenging when the customer requires something different from the norm, but is something we always like to assist with.”
