Crown Cosma Clinic Helps Restore Woman’s Over-plucked Eyebrows

London, UK (4th September, 2012) – Crown Cosma Clinic, leading hair transplant and restoration specialists, have performed a delicate transplant operation to restore a woman’s over-plucked eyebrows.

Trainee dentist Claire Culverwell, from Manchester, had plucked her eyebrows many times over the years to form a thin arch, leaving her follicles damaged and unable to grow back properly due to their limited growth cycles. This inability to regrow her brows affected her confidence, causing her to feel anxious about being seen without make-up.

Upon deciding that she wanted to seek treatment for her brows, Miss Culverwell contacted Dr Asim Shahmalak – founder of Crown Cosma Clinic – to explore her options. During the operation, Dr Shahmalak removed a narrow strip of hair from the back of Miss Culverwell’s head, being sure to only use hairs which closely resembled the colour and texture of her eyebrows. The inch-long strip contained between 400 and 500 hairs, which were then separated under a microscope before being transplanted into small incisions made in her eyebrows. As new hair grows quicker, Miss Culverwell now needs to trim her brows every two weeks to keep them in shape. The story has proven popular, appearing in the Manchester Evening News, The Daily Mirror, Metro, The Sun, the New York Daily News, Lancashire Telegraph as well as receiving radio coverage in Lincolnshire and on Chris Evans’ BBC Radio 2 morning show.

“This is a very complex operation, but it was certainly worth it to restore Miss Culverwell’s confidence,” said Dr Shahmalak. “Statement eyebrows are now a beauty must-have, with the Duchess of Cambridge, Natalie Portman and many stars wearing them with fantastic effect. For many women who have over-plucked their brows over the years, an eyebrow transplant is the only solution. At Crown Cosma Clinic, we have seen a substantial increase in interest in the procedure, and many women have been thrilled with the results – just as Ms Culverwell is.”
