15 June 2012- Salford Business School is offering a fully-funded place worth more than £16,000 on its top-ranked MBA programme to a manager who displays ambition, drive and a determination to develop both themselves and their organisation.

The Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme is a coveted management qualification, designed to help managers to develop the business skills and personal attributes needed to become a great leader.

The Salford MBA is accredited by AMBA, the Association of MBAs. AMBA operates at a global level, accrediting business schools on every continent and its internationally-recognised kite mark is only awarded to programmes of the highest quality.

The Salford MBA is delivered at the University of Salford’s state-of-the-art facility at MediaCityUK home to the BBC and many other businesses from the digital, creative and media industries.

To date it has only been available for full-time study but students throughout the North West can now study part-time on the Executive MBA programme, enabling them to earn while they learn and put their learning into practice immediately.

To celebrate this development, Salford Business School is offering an MBA Global Leadership Scholarship to study for the MBA, either full time or part time, and with three possible start dates during 2012 and 2013. The scholarship is worth £16,120 and entrants, as well as meeting all standard Salford MBA criteria, must submit an essay on the following topic ‘What does leadership mean to you and how can a Salford MBA help you contribute to global leadership?’

One high-flying MBA graduate is Ged Fitzgerald, Chief Executive of Liverpool City Council, who manages a budget of £1.6 billion. He says:

“I chose Salford for my MBA for several reasons – it was a new and progressive course with a challenging blend of input, integration and application. It also enabled me to learn a lot about excellent private sector organisational experience and thinking and to apply it to the public sector. It was a fundamental asset in shaping my career and continues to help me in leading a major, complex organisation.”

Professor Amanda Broderick, Dean of Salford Business School, says the reason behind the scholarship offer is simple:

“The Salford MBA welcomes a diverse mix of students from many nationalities, backgrounds and cultures and this vibrant environment enhances learning as students share experiences. We are keen to attract regional managers from across Britain and Europe to our programmes as they are the lifeblood of the local economy and we can help them to develop and contribute to economic success. Our Global Leadership Scholarship competition is just one way we are opening our doors and broadening our horizons.”

For details of how to enter the MBA Global Leadership Scholarship competition, and for full terms and conditions, please go to www.salford.ac.uk/business-school and follow the link from the home page.

The closing date for entries is Friday 20 July 2012.
