France’s famed TGV, the ‘Train à Grande Vitesse’ is the fastest way to travel to more than 1400 destinations in Europe.
The high speed trains transport over 130 million people every year and reach speeds of up to 320 km/h, meaning travellers, within France and beyond, can reach their destination in just a few hours.
Train travellers in France can reach the Champagne region, city of Reims from Paris in just 45 minutes, Avignon in 2 hours 40 minutes and Lyon and Bordeaux in around 3 hours.
TGV trains also connect France with Belgium, Switzerland and Germany where passengers can continue their journey with other European high-speed services
On board passengers can choose between First and Standard Class and the newest trains have been designed by French fashion creator Christian Lacroix.
Seats are spacious and have armrests and legroom is generous – even in Standard class. .
First Class seating offers extra legroom and larger seats that recline electronically and passengers looking for some peace and privacy can book solo seats.
For those who need to work with colleagues there is the option to book two adjoining seats or even a Club space, for groups of two or four people.
On most trains (but not all services), passengers can enjoy a light meal served in seat with a complimentary travel pack containing a stain-removal kit, a phone charger and even a sleeping-kit.
A taxi reservation service is also available on-board specific TGV trains (Lille, Paris- Nantes, Paris – Rennes and Paris – Nice).

For Standard Class passengers seats have drop-down tables suitable for laptops, power points (in selected TGV trains) and a bar buffet offering snacks and beverages.
Other seating options on the TGV include “The Carré” for travelling in groups of four or The ’’Kiosque’’ (16 seats) customized for small groups.
Travellers with children will also find some TGV trains have changing rooms for babies and also bottle-warming facilities, as well as a dedicated space for kids to play. Family seats are usually set around a folding table with a games board.
On some routes, the double decker TGV Duplex trains offer great views of the countryside from the “salle haute”.
Reservations can be made on Rail Europe website up to three months before departure and travellers should look out for TGV Prem’s tickets which can offer up to 60 per cent off the standard fare depending on train, destination and time of travel.
Remember seat type and services onboard depend on the type of TGV, the time of travel and the destination – but no matter where you’re going the TGV will get you there in no time at all and in great comfort.
